Wednesday night, the singular Simon Callow opened the one-man play Being Shakespeare at the BAM Harvey Theater. Written by Jonathan Bate and directed by Tom Cairns, the piece employs the fantastically dexterous Mr.Callow to explore the Bard's life and work through his many characters from Jacques to Henry V to King Lear.

BAM Patrons at the Benefactor level and above were invited to a charming party after the opening performance. Decor artists Fleurs Bella created the feel of an English Garden in Campbell Lobby of the BAM Harvey Theater.  Great Performances served up British treats alongside a specially crafted cocktail by Brooklyn Gin and BAMboozle by the wonderful Brooklyn Brewery.

Next Thursday, BAM will celebrate its landmark 150th Anniversary with the 150th Anniversary Gala. The Gala will begin at 6pm with a festive Gala Dinner followed by an 8pm concert featuring the legendary Dr. John. Gala attendees are then invited to keep the revelry going late into the night at the Bourbon Street After Party with the artists. Go here for more information.
